The Montréal Premiere of America’s Musical Journey 3D

The Montréal Premiere of America’s Musical Journey 3D brought music lovers together at the Montréal Science Centre

Montréal, May 10, 2018- On Monday, 200 lucky music lovers were treated to a very special evening at the premiere of America’s Musical Journey 3D, which is now playing at the Montréal Science Centre’s IMAX®TELUS Theatre. The film takes viewers on an epic cross-country road trip through the beautiful, musical cities of New Orleans, Memphis, Nashville, Chicago, New York, and Miami where America’s music was born. But that was only the beginning.

The crowd was then treated to a memorable intimate concert by Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Aloe Blacc, the film’s host and the artist behind the hit songs Wake Me Up (with Avicii), I Need a Dollar and The Man. The singer also performed his new single Brooklyn in the Summer, which mentions Montréal in the lyrics. Listen here.

Aloe Blacc was thrilled to be back in town: “I was fortunate enough to play in Montréal a couple of years ago and it was an amazing experience. It’s a privilege to be back here sharing this new film which highlights such unique American art forms such as jazz, blues, country, rock and roll, and hip hop.”

MacGillivray Freeman Films, the team behind such award-winning IMAX® films as To the Arctic and National Parks Adventure, took full advantage of the cutting-edge IMAX® sound: ”With its IMAX® laser technology, the IMAX® TELUS Theatre is perfect for America’s Musical Journey 3D. People are right to focus on the screen features because they are simply amazing, but let’s not forget that the sound system is in a class of its own, which makes for a truly immersive experience you simply can’t get at home,” said producer Shaun MacGillivray, President of MacGillivray Freeman Films.

The film was produced in association with Brand USA, the destination marketing organization for the United States and new Old Port of Montréal partner, and presented by Expedia and Air Canada: “What a great way to kick off our new partnership with the Old Port of Montréal.  America’s Musical Journey 3D is not only a great IMAX® film, it’s also a fantastic reminder of the unique cultural offerings of the United States” said Tom Garzilli, Chief Marketing Officer at Brand USA.

America’s Musical Journey 3D is playing in English and French at the IMAX® TELUS Theatre. For the complete schedule or to buy tickets online.
