INSPIRING GIRLS’ INTEREST IN SCIENCE

Montreal, February 2, 2018 – A growing number of Montreal companies in the science and technology sectors have set themselves the goal of recruiting more women. The Science Centre is contributing to that aspiration with a new event: Women & Science.

Free access to all exhibitions

On Sunday, February 11, as part of the United Nations International Day of Women and Girls in Science, access to the exhibitions will be FREE for girls 18 and under. In addition to permanent exhibitions like Fabrik, Human and Science 26, they also can explore Indigenous Ingenuity, an exhibition that examines a number of First Peoples’ innovations from a scientific angle to show how these inventions have influenced our society.

Bring your daughters to meet women who have made their mark in science

In addition, participants will be able to interact with inspiring women working in science and technology at more than a dozen organizations, including: Ubisoft Montreal, Element AI, CGI, Canadian Space Agency, TandemLaunch and Pharmabio Development.

Finally, at the special Fun with Science section, our talented educators, as well as invited groups like Les Scientifines and Kids Code Jeunesse, will lead fun, interactive workshops on key scientific concepts.

Quote:

"Montreal shines in cutting-edge fields like aerospace, engineering, video games and artificial intelligence. Combining our efforts with other organizations, we hope that the Women & Science day will inspire girls and help them discover the panoply of fascinating jobs available to them here in Québec." – Cybèle Robichaud, Director of Programming at the Science Centre
