5 Fun Food Festivals at the Old Port this Summer

FOMO alert! And whoever said food festivals have to take place on Montréal’s main streets? It’s summer after all, and the Old Port is getting in on the action with flavours from near and far. You’re going love it!

 

A Taste of the Caribbean

The Taste of the Caribbean festival is the summer’s quintessential West Indian event. Visitors can explore the gastronomical treasures of about 25 Caribbean islands including Haiti, Cuba, Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Saint Vincent, Grenada, and that’s just for starters!  

How does this exploration begin? Try dishes from local restaurants and internationally renowned chefs and enjoy West Indian culinary demonstrations complete with mixology experts!

A veritable feast awaits! Get an eye-full and an ear-full too with outstanding musical performances featuring local and international artists. Programming that won’t disappoint!

The Great Montréal Poutinefest

Ah yes, fries, sauce and that great squeaky cheese. Classic or Hawaiian? Will you be part of those trying every poutine the Poutinefest has to offer? Well, get ready, because we have new poutineers (yes, new!) and they have yet again revolutionized this classic dish. Never before have so many different poutine styles been assembled in one place!

Come hungry and discover more than 40 unique recipes prepared by some of the province’s greatest poutine chefs! It’s going to take a lot of courage to visit each and every food truck, but we know you can do it!

The Great Montréal Poutinefest is organized as a “poutine village” where you’ll find exhibits, artists, live music, and attractions for poutine lovers of all ages including shows and games just for kids that the whole family can enjoy. No matter how young (or old) you are (or feel), the Great Montréal Poutinefest welcomes you all!

The Great Montréal Ribfest

Does the smell of hickory, smoke and sizzling meat get you hot? Grab your napkins ‘cause a finger-licking good time awaits you at the Great Montréal Ribfest! Made famous in the American South, come get your ribs during this ultimate rib-lovers extravaganza. For six glorious days, come try the delectable delights created by expert ribbers from Texas, Alabama, New Mexico, Florida and Tennessee. Yes ma’am! Yes sir! The ribbers are back in town!

Braised melt-in-your-mouth ribs and pulled pork should never be served alone, so a number of Québec-based microbreweries will also be on site to share their special brews. The menu is set! Just come on by and enjoy!

Bringing the family along? We’ll also be serving up daytime concerts and DJs in the evening and a family zone and plenty of sitting room to make this delicious day even more delightful. Come savour the American South and marvel at the giant smokehouses!

Taco Fest MTL

Tacos are, hands down, the city’s newest street food sensation! The Old Port is preparing all the fixings for its fiesta Mexicana extravaganza known as Taco Fest MTL. Come savour an ambiance that’s hot-hot-hot brought to you by Montréal’s best chefs serving authentic Mexican food. There’s no other fest like it, with 100 different variations on the taco ready for you to try! How will you try them all? You’ll just have to drop by on all three days!

But it’s not all fun and tacos. We’ve also got fabulous nachos, salsa and spicy sauce, and to wash it all down choose from the very best tequilas, mezcals and artisanal cocktails at this who’s who of Mexican cuisine event.

Then sit back or dance to the sizzle of the live shows featuring salsa dancers, mariachi bands, and DJs muy caliente!
