The Old Port of Montréal Corporation builds and maintains relations with key actors in the Montréal, Quebec and Canadian communities.
It is involved
- in questions related to investments in the conservation and effective use of assets and infrastructure,
- in the improvement of citizens' quality of life and safety,
- in social, economic and cultural development.
It is a member of the Table de concertation du Vieux-Montréal and the Regroupement des organismes culturels du Vieux-Montréal.
As a major player in tourism and recreational development in Canada and Quebec, it participates in the debates that shape its industry. Thanks to its expertise, it has an influence on the strategies and policies of organizations such as the Conseil québécois de l'industrie touristique and Culture Montréal.
An essential part of the Montréal landscape
Through the development of the Quays of the Old Port and the Montréal Science Centre, the Corporation contributes to Montréal's socioeconomic and cultural vitality.
The Corporation participates in building Montréal's national and international reputation and stature:
- through the diversity, originality and quality of the products and programs it develops,
- through active consultation with other entities and organizations involved in promoting the city, particularly Tourisme Montréal.
It is an active member of the International Association Cities and Ports (IACP), the Canadian Association of Science Centres, ICOM-Canada, the Association of Science-Technology Centres (ASTC) and the Association des musées et centres pour le développement de la culture scientifique, technique et industrielle (AMCSTI).
A world-class organization
Thanks to the efforts of the Old Port of Montréal Corporation, the Quays of the Old Port is now one of the world's major historic ports.
With its innovative character, the Montréal Science Centre has become a scientific and cultural leader in educational programs for youth and adults.

Promoting and developing the development of the Old Port of Montréal's territory, and administering and managing Crown property.
The territory
The territory of the Old Port of Montréal, with an area of 47.3 hectares, is 2.7 kilometres long and lies along the St. Lawrence River, bordering Old Montréal and downtown Montréal.
It has been recognized as historically significant in two ways:
- the eastern and central sectors and a portion of the western sector were made part of the historic Old Montréal borough in 1997.
- the western sector has been part of the Lachine Canal National Historic Site since 1996.
It is close to
- Pointe-à-Callière, where Montréal was founded;
- Saint-Laurent Boulevard, a designated historic site between the Old Port and Jean-Talon Street (Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada).
